AFAS does not pay child care for volunteers in resale, fund raising, or social activities. In addition, AFAS funds are not available to support the base dental assistant training program.

Girl Scouts

We are seeking leaders and co-leaders for next year, especially in the North Area. Committee members to include a Military Liaison, Secretary, Troop Consultant, Cookie Manager and Web Page Designer/Maintainer are needed as well for the upcoming year. Please contact Jessica Payne 616-8405.

 PAWS

Pets Are Worth Saving is looking for adult volunteers who are willing to put in 4 hours a month to assist with cleaning. They also are looking for teenagers to help out after school. Thrift Store

During the PCS season, the Thrift Store experiences an increase in donations and is in need of additional volunteers. Any volunteers year round would be greatly appreciated. Please call 226-4447.

AFRC

Volunteer tour guides are needed for our Misawa City and Hachinohe City tours. If you are interested or are considering the possibility, contact Lorraine Butler at 226-4735. This is an excellent opportunity to support the Misawa AB community. We are also looking for someone to assist in the Loan Closet to include help with coupons.

Boy Scouts

The Boy Scouts of America of Misawa AB welcomes motivated adult volunteers to give back to our next generation of leaders by serving in any one of numerous volunteer positions, from a full or part-time role on a Committee to a Den/Troop Leadership role, working directly with youth. Library

Story Time at the Base Library is looking for volunteers to read from 10:30-11:30 on Tuesdays. The library staff will choose the books, if requested by the volunteer. We're asking volunteers to read once per month. Please contact the library at 226-4083.

Relocation Services
Sponsorship Training Classes
This is mandatory training for first time sponsors and those that have not had training in the past year. Members will be provided with the skills needed to succeed as a sponsor.

Right Start INTRO Briefing
(mandatory for all Active Duty)

Smooth Move Workshop
(outbound PCS)
Being prepared makes relocation less stressful. Subject matter experts will update you on the latest policy changes that may impact your move. Spouse employment, relocation planning, and
financial resources are also provided. Contact A&FRC for upcoming workshop dates. Time: 9 - 11:30 am.
Free PCS Childcare
The Air Force Aid Society (AFAS) provides free child care for Air Force families within 60 days of a PCS move. Bring a copy of your orders to the A&FRC, Bldg. 656, and the AFAS will pay up to 20 hours per child. Note: child care must be with a licensed Family Child Care provider.

Loan Closet
The Loan Closet can provide basic home necessities such as dishes, utensils, small appliances, high chairs, strollers and more to assist during in/out-bound PCS.
Homebuyer’s Education Workshop
This workshop provides information on the sort of home affordable for you, methods of financing, realtor selection, renting versus buying, pre-qualifying, and the VA home loan process.

Key Spouse
Program

The Key Spouse Program provides a valuable information link between squadron commanders
and families. The focus is to support family readiness education and communication. The A&FRC provides program training and referral support. If you are interested in learning more about this program,
