The purpose of the Child Development Program is to offer quality care for children of active duty and Department of Defense civilians assigned to Misawa Air Base. The programs have been accredited with the National Association for the Education
of Young Children and annually receive re-certification by the Department of Defense.
The philosophy of our program is to support the development of the whole child, meaning all areas of the child’s development are considered interrelated and equally important. There is a respect for each child’s unique interests and experiences, abilities and needs.
Yoiko CDC on main base has 15 classrooms, and Zeamer CDC in the north area has six. Both facilities offer full-day and hourly care for children ages six weeks to five years.
Care for children with special needs is available based on the ability of the program to meet the needs of the child. We require written guidance from a physician, therapist or other appropriate health professional.
