Air Force College Options:
Community College of the Air Force (CCAF)

CCAF is the largest community college in the world, and the only one in the Department of Defense, was activated in 1972 to gain academic recognition for technical training conducted by Air Force schools.
    The CCAF offers 67 degrees in 5 areas:
         •  Aircraft / Missile Maintenance
         •  Electronics / Telecommunications
         •  Allied Health
         •  Logistics / Resources
         •  Public / Support Services

AU-ABC Program
AU-ABC is the Air University Associate to Baccalaureate Cooperative Program. AU-ABC is an initiative between the Air Force and civilian higher education institutions to offer baccalaureate degree opportunities to every Air Force enlisted member.
The program directs Airmen with Associate in Applied Science degrees to a collection of accredited "military friendly" colleges and universities to consider when completing a four-year degree.
Civilian College Options:
   Opportunities to begin and complete secondary certificates, as well as associate, baccalaureate and masters degrees are available at the various colleges and universities offering on-base programs. Adult institutions represented on base are:
         •  Central Texas College
         •  University of Maryland
         •  University of Phoenix
         •  Troy University

Spouse Tuition Assistance Program (STAP)

   The Air Force Aid Society provides tuition assistance for spouses of active duty members in the amount of $1,500 dollars per year. This amount is provided to help spouses with up to 50% of unmet tuition costs and the $1,500 dollars is divided up by terms.

   There are 5 terms in a year here at Misawa. The most a spouse could qualify for it $300 per term. AFAS STAP is only available for use with one of the local colleges on-base.

Navy Marine Corps Relief Society (NMCRS) Spouse Tuition Assistance: Please call 226-3721 during normal office hours on Tues 0800-1200 or Thurs 1230-1530, to get further information on application procedures and deadlines.
Army Emergency Relief Spouse Education Assistance Program (SEAP): Applications and further program information are available online at the following location: http://www.aerhq.org/education_spouseeducation.asp.  Applications must be mailed to AER HQ and postmarked NLT each term’s deadline.

   Accessing Your Military Education Record is Easy!
Log on to the Air Force Portal, then under "Top Viewed Careers" tab, click on Air Force Virtual Education Center link. Choose the Misawa Education Center. If you do not have that option, then your information may not be current. A quick stop by our office will update your records! This gives you access to apply for Tuition Assistance, check CCAF Progress Reports, or request a CCAF transcript, as well as to study guides and officer commissioning information.
