Paintball, beach cabin rentals, guided trips, and more!

If you’re looking for a few well-deserved adventures or recreation opportunities, Misawa Air Base is a choice destination, offering a myriad of exciting activities. From scuba diving, hiking or mountain biking, to snowshoeing, paintball or ski and snowboard instruction, there’s something for everyone throughout the year.
Stop by the Outdoor Recreation Center, located in the Weasels’ Den, any day of the week to ask about our guided adventure trips or take advantage of the wealth of information we have about the local area. In addition to maps and guides, we have a rental center equipped with a fleet of rental vans and just about everything you’ll need for camping, skiing, snowboarding, kayaking, and more!
Weasels’ Den
Whether the weather is rainy and cool or just too hot and sunny, those looking for a little indoor recreation won’t be disappointed. The Weasels’ Den is one of the Air Force’s preeminent indoor recreational facilities. In this expansive indoor playground for ALL ages, you’ll discover batting cages, soccer field, miniature golf, bouldering wall and more!. Youngsters delight in the cushioned playground and massive indoor parks while their parents watch from the benches or party tables.

Other Facilities:
In addition to all the great recreational options available INSIDE the Outdoor Recreation Center, there are numerous others around base...
  Himberg Pool

This heated pool gives Misawa’s swimmers an indoor place to meet year-round for aquatic fun and exercise. Lap lanes are available daily (limited lap lanes may be available during weekday open swim and lesson periods - check with pool staff for availability) - scroll down for swim times.  Don’t miss out on monthly Friday Family Fun nights!
Base Beach
The beach along Lake Ogawara offers water sports and activities: canoes, kayaks, paddle boats, speed boats and water skiing. Kids love the parks and the shallow water in the swimming areas. Also available at the beach are a dog park, party pavilions with barbeque grills and charming lakeside rental cabins. Call for more details about renting a cabin for a fun getaway that's close to home, or a pavilion for your next party or company function!
Sporting Options:
The Disk Golf Course offers a scenic 18-hole Frisbee golf experience that is fun and challenging, no matter what level of "frolfer" you are.
Leftwich Park

Near Security Hill, this large park is ideal for hosting private and squadron functions. Boasting pavilions with picnic tables, barbeques, playground, and plenty of shade from massive trees, Leftwich has plenty of room for large functions, plus the football and softball fields make for great squadron competitions!

Skeet and Trap Range
Shooting enthusiasts will find the Skeet and Trap Range to be an excellent venue. Guns, shells and safety gear are all included in the rental package.
Paintball Fields
Adjacent to the shooting range are the Paintball Fields, where paint ballers gather on weekends for high-adrenaline action. Markers, paintballs and air are all available.
Let Outdoor Recreation and its many facilities be your source for fun and excitement in northern Japan.
